I have just returned from taking my Yeti "home" to the Czech Republic. Went via the Harwich to Hoek ferry and drove through Holland and Germany. Everything was normal on the outward journey with my Yeti showing an average MPG of around 38 mpg. However after I filled with fuel (unleaded) in the Czech Republic my mpg immediately increased to over 42 and stayed that way over a two week period. It seems my Yeti actually preferred to be in the Czech Republic or the Czechs actually add something to fuel that Skoda's like. As soon as I started the return journey and filled with fuel in Germany my mpg returned to normal, very odd !

Prague is where I first saw the Yeti nearly six years ago.

Prague is a beautiful city I have been twice by air, but the rest of the Czech Republic should not be overlooked. I have now driven there twice in my Yeti the first time towing a caravan and this year without a caravan. Yes needless to say there are a lot of Skoda's in the Czech Republic but I would say the Octavia is by far the most common though you do see a reasonable number of Yeti's.

I too find I get better mpg whilst abroad, and the remaining tank full when I return to the UK, fill up in the UK and the mpg drops a little (4mpg), what is different?.

That's strange as the OP has a petrol engine and yours is diesel. Maybe there is less bio in the foreign diesel, no idea about the petrol.
