I have been using the screen wash a lot lately so before going out today I topped it up. When I tried to give the screen a good wash before driving, not only did it no longer work but the wipers didn't work either. Got out to investigate and the problem was I hadn't clicked the bonnet down properly. Very clever these Yetis.

After 6 years with two Yetis and a Karoq, I only found out today in another post that the detachable boot torch is magnetic!

I think it's a peculiarly british thing to not read the manual .... 'twas only when the battery failed that I found I'd got a heated front screen despite there being a switch for it on the console ...... I mean I've owned cars for a very long time - steering wheel ? check, brakes ? check, gearstick ? check , fuel filler ? check, what else do you need ?

BMW drivers often need to be reminded that many of their cars frequently come equipped with a turn signalling device called i n d i c a t o r s ! Not many know this device exists on their cars.
And yes - I am (also) a BMW owner and have driven over 210,000 miles in various models.

That's a feature our 1992 Favorit had when we bought it new. I remember the salesman confirming it was there when we picked the car up.

RE Highway Code: I have the app on my iPad and read it last year after my speed awareness course. The first time in over 50 years and well worth the effort.

One of my previous motors ,an escort van I think, developed a leaky exhaust while on holiday and I couldn't afford a new one. I managed to patch it with the lid of a baked beans can and body filler just to get me home. I didn't know if it would last because of the heat but it did and was still there when I part x ed it.

The Karoq has two vanity mirrors, which are illuminated when the covers are slid across to reveal the mirror. I only found out yesterday that the light also goes off when the visor is moved away from vertical. Clever stuff!

Clever but is it really needed? Are cars getting like phones, adding gimmicks to try and make people "upgrade", if you were driving down a twisty unlit road and Mrs J used the vanity mirror would the car be filled with light?

I agree Hoodie - clever indeed, like so many Gizmos, but in the old days I managed with none of them. I like KESSY and the EHB, but the various displays showing how green the current journey has been, or a clever graphic showing an outline of the car with how much range is left in the tank, or even a rather dim magnetic boot torch - why? The displays are distracting and after a couple of views I didn't look again. As for Mrs J fixing her lippy in the dark, I haven't checked how bright the light is, so tomorrow evening I'll sit in the garage to adjust my mascara before joining a virtual Goth Zoom session.
