Just a basic idea with obvious scope for improvement. A pound shop tray, to which has been fixed a scrap of wood shaped to meet the glovebox lid. The 'inner' handle of the tray rests in the apex at the top of the glovebox, which helps keep everything in place. It goes without saying that the tray is considerably less strong and stable than a true picnic table, but it seems to work well for the purpose intended.
