Hi, I'm about six weeks into owning my 2011 Yeti 1.2tsi. I've started getting the smell of fumes in the cabin when i use the fans / heaters / air con. I believe that it is the PCV valve that is the issue - the end of it appear to have sheared off. I've got it literally just sitting on top of where it should be plugged so that it still might be doing something - definitely less fumes in the cabin. It looks like an easy job to do myself and the part is cheap but I'm going to take it to a local garage (there's a VAG specialist down the street, handily) as I don't want to screw things up by letting the end that has been sheared off disappear down into the depths whilst trying to extract it (I'd be a terrible surgeon!). Any ideas what I should expect to pay? The valve only costs £10-£15 and it looks like a ten minute job if you know what you're doing (so about three hours for me!)

ta very much.

Nine year old car, perhaps bought it privately, rather than from a dealer?

I did actually buy it from a dealer but I need it resolved quickly and don't really have the time for the inevitable back and forth. I don't really mind if its not a huge cost as, from what I can gather this is a fairly common thing on the 1.2's that needs doing every once in a while.

Update: I had this sorted yesterday and was charged £30 all in (including a genuine Skoda part). I did try to get a price from another local specialist that used to be a Skoda dealership and was told that they couldn't get the part or carry out the work and I'd have to go to a main dealer!

Glad to hear it's sorted.
