I am running a2 litre 4x4 140bhp and tyres which it cameon itare 225 x 50 x R17's. The ride is a littlechoppy on these tyres and I would like to change to a smoother riding tyre. Can anyone tell me ifthey have run different size tyres, such as 225 x 55 x R17's and if so,has this improved the ride? Thanks.

My Yeti is also a 140 4x4, I'm currently running on winter tyres, I bought some 16"used Audi Alloys from eBAY (£60) and fitted them with 215/60/16 Micheli Alpins. The ride is quieter and the bumps less obvious, this could be due to the higher sidewall putting more air (cushioning)between the wheel and the road, or it could just be due to winter tyres having a higher rubber content.Another side effect of the different sized tyres is that according to the sat nav the speedo is almost correct now. This size of tyre is actually fitted to some models of Yeti.If you change the tyre or wheel size you need to keep the circumference the same. a 225/50/17 is 2061 mm a 225/55/17 is 2136 mm, a 215/60/16 is 2086mm.

Before you do anything, check with your insurance company that they are willing for you to fit a tyre size not specified or approved by Skoda.
