Tyre pressure indicator stayed flashing after startup visual check allround looked ok 100 yds or so stopped flashing another few yards light goes out .This morning did the same this also happened once last year that time it was extremely cold but it ain't now .

Have you tried resetting it?
Getting similar reports on the Kia forums and it is probably caused by the cold weather.

Make sure all pressures are correct, then hold button in for reset a few seconds until it beeps.

And it can't be turned off.
Why would you want to? It is a safety reminder.

Years ago it was easy to know you had a tyre going down.
I had a blowout and still wondered what the slight rumble was, even throwing the steering about it tracked true like there was no problem but as the TPMS needs to do more than a few revolutions different to the tyre with a problem it never went off on mine.

And to be pedantic they aren't Tyre Pressure Indicators but Monitors, as the pressure is not read, but wheel revolutions used.

With modern low profile tires they can loos almost half their pressure and still "look" ok and the car drives fine..
