Hi folks,

Apologies if this has been done to death, but a search didn't give me the answers I was looking for...

As the clock ticks down to delivery day I'm now turning my attention to what accessories to buy for the new arrival.

I'm aware of the stuff Skoda themselves do, and also have found the superskoda web store, but I'm sure I saw a post on here about a Russian site recently (but can't find it now) and I have also found a number of other accessory sellers via the web.

I'd be interested to know what sites people on here have used & would recommend so I can start putting my shopping list together.

Oh, and if anyone knows of a decent supplier of MDI cables I'd be interested too! I need one for iPhone 4 & one for iPhone 5. I've seen you can get iPhone 4 ones on ebay for about £15 but the iPhone 5 ones seem to be £60+. Is this the going rate or is there a cheaper supply?

Thanks,

David

Thanks Kenny - that's kind of what I was thinking - got a 30 pin apple adaptor already anyway, so may as well pick up the iPhone4 one and wait for the price of the iphone5 ones to drop a bit!

I am not much of a techy, I am guessing the cable is for playing music so can yo not blue tooth it to the system? I have a feeling I am going to be educated here by a few members!

One advantage of using the cable is that it powers/charges the device connected to it and doesn't rely on the devices batteries which can run out.

So I have sourced an iPhone 4 MDI cable from fleabay for £5 - claims to be genuine VW - don't really care as long as it works.

And I've ordered a first selection of bits from Superskoda... protector for therearbumperlip (as the dog will scratch it getting in/out otherwise), black panels for the door pillars so the black roof & A & C pillars all blend together cohesively

...And finally (don't laugh) some VRS badges for front & rear - part of my plan to makemy ownYeti VRS (seeing as Skoda havn't bothered to)

... Some extras from Skodadop to follow (VRS badges for the seats & steering wheel) plus a bit of bling here & there (will assess what to get once I've got my hands on the car)

Later onI will be looking for opinions on aremap to take it from 170ps to somewhere north of 200ps so it lives up to it's badging! I already seen Superchips do a Bluefin option for this but I hear there are other VAG tuners around that can offer something?

Thanks for your help so far guys - some really good links up there!

Will any changes to the vehicle I.e. remapping effect the warranty in any way or is this an accepted modification?

Almost certainly it would invalidate the warranty - if the dealers detected it.

Superchips advertise their Bluefin as undetectable.

This is all hypothetical anyway - the 170 may be quick enough for me as standard. But coming from a 265bhp S-max (the Titanium X-Sport which has the same engine as the Focus ST engine in it), I may yearn a little more umph.

That said the 170 diesel Yeti has a slug more torque than the 265 petrol S-max. And the 0-60 times aren't that far apart.

Time will tell....

It also gives more control over the playback. If I just connect via Bluetooth from my Galaxy S4 navigating between albums and tracks has to be done on the phone or with lots of clicking around. With the cable everything is on the display and the buttons move between albums and display the full track list..

When I collected my car I needed to buy a micro usb cable, apparently there is no Skoda part for this. Luckily the dealer also sold Seat so I got a Seat cable at less than the Skoda RRP for a USB or iPhone cable!
