We do the poppy thing a little bit, but not as big as in UK/Europe. We have a minutes silence in a lot of places because a lot of Aussies served in European campaigns. ANZAC day and the Gallipoli campaign is THE huge one here.
We have community clubs called RSL (Returned Servicemens League) and EVERY day at sunset the whole club goes dead silent and they dim the lights as they play the "We will remember them" speech and have a minutes silence. It's pretty impressive when a club the size of a department store, full of noisy pokies, suddenly goes silent.
