Another member had a similar problem same seat, so this may help if its the same cause.

The seat has to be in its fully rearward position before it will lift. On one of my Roomsters (same rear seat arrangement) I could only achieve this by sitting in the seat, then lifting the lever under the front of the seat, then shuffling the seat fully forward and hard back.
